# Get started

You can make a working request in a few minutes, without moving any money. Do these three things in order.

1. **[Get a test key](https://docs.vabu.live/get-started/environments-and-keys.md).** Every tenant has test keys from the start. A test key can only touch test data.
2. **[Make your first request](https://docs.vabu.live/get-started/first-request.md).** Copy a snippet in curl, TypeScript, PHP, Python or Go, and list your events.
3. **[Read the response](https://docs.vabu.live/get-started/responses-and-errors.md).** Every response uses the same envelope, and every error has the same shape.

When the request works, pick a product. The [products](https://docs.vabu.live/products/index.md) page lists all nine. If you want to stream video, go straight to the [Streams quickstart](https://docs.vabu.live/guides/streams/quickstart.md). Then read the [concepts](https://docs.vabu.live/concepts/integration-modes.md) that apply to how you plan to integrate, and switch to a live key.

## What you need

- A Vabu OS tenant. A tenant is your account.
- A secret key that starts with `vk_test_`.
- The API host, `https://api.vabu.live`.

::: warning Keep secret keys on your server
A secret key can read and write everything it is scoped to. Do not put one in a browser app or a mobile app. Use a [publishable key](https://docs.vabu.live/get-started/environments-and-keys.md#publishable-keys) there.
